A United Nations aid worker has been killed in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli military, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees has said.

UNRWA reported that the staff member died during Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday, shortly after an attack by Hamas militants in Rafah. The agency said at least four Palestinians were killed in strikes on Gaza City and shelling in Khan Younis. Their colleague was hit while walking along Salah Eddin Street in central Gaza.

According to UNRWA, 391 of its staff and partners have been killed since the conflict began.

In northern Gaza, Israeli forces have demolished a UN school in Jabalia, the agency confirmed. The school was among several facilities located behind the so‑called “Yellow Line”, a barrier separating Israeli forces from the civilian population.

UNRWA said eight of its schools in this militarised zone were demolished between January and February.

Elsewhere, UN teams helped evacuate 18 patients and 26 companions through the Rafah crossing earlier this week.

They also received 41 returnees at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where a reception area has been set up to support arrivals.

Since Rafah reopened in early February, just over 220 people have crossed in each direction.

Humanitarian partners have delivered stationery and toys to improve learning conditions for thousands of children.

Four new temporary learning spaces were established last week, bringing the total to around 450 and serving more than 5,500 students.

Between 29 January and 4 February, child‑protection teams provided winter supplies, psychosocial support and safe spaces to more than 6,500 children and caregivers, including warm clothing for nearly 3,800 children.
