Our Treasures Within, published by Loyola Press, is a new picture book created by Peter H. Reynolds and Paul A. Reynolds.
Available as of January 20 in hardcover and digital formats, the volume is inspired by Pope Francis’ frequent invitation to recognise and share the gifts placed by God in every person and offers young readers and families a way to reflect on how personal talents can contribute to the good of others.
The project, which began in 2022, continued through the months following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025. In a press release, Loyola Press describes the work as a continuation of the pastoral themes he emphasised throughout his ministry.
The authors
Peter H. Reynolds, known internationally for his children’s books and illustrations, said he and his brother were honoured to help carry forward the late Pope’s message for children and caregivers. The book follows earlier collaborations between Loyola Press and Pope Francis, including Dear Pope Francis (2016).
The authors’ broader educational initiatives, including FableVision Studios and the Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning & Creativity, aim to support creativity and learning in classrooms around the world.
Joellyn Cicciarelli, President and Publisher at Loyola Press, stated that the book encourages readers of all ages to reflect on their purpose and how it might serve the wider community. The text includes one of Pope Francis’ well-known reflections: “It’s like playing a treasure hunt, because it is not easily found. But once you find it, share it.”
