In Tucumán, Argentina, children are living their faith as Guardians of Creation, planting trees, mentoring peers, and learning to care for our planet through the Laudato Si’ initiative.”
Laudato si’ Movement
Amid laughter and tiny hands digging into the soil, 85 children in Tucumán, Argentina, plant trees with joy and purpose. Each seed they place in the earth is more than a plant—it is a gesture of love, care, and faith in the creation God has entrusted to humanity. Standing beside them, 70 older children, already certified Guardians from 2024, guide and encourage the newcomers, showing that this mission is shared and that every small act matters. This is how a new chapter unfolds in the story of the Guardians of Creation.
Since 2024, over 144 children have discovered that faith is not only celebrated through the sacraments of Communion and Confirmation, but is lived every day by caring for our Common Home. Activities like planting, recycling, and creating symbols and challenges transform into joyful moments of participation and mission, teaching the children that protecting life and the planet is an act of faith and responsibility. This inspiring initiative has been led by Daniel Reinoso, Laudato Si’ Animator, who has dedicated himself to nurturing this project within his parish.
A highlight of the year was the awarding of the first badge to second-level children during the Federal Assembly of Catholic Action. The dove and laurel, symbols of the Holy Spirit and peace, recognised their dedication in mentoring the new aspirants. Watching older children become mentors—encouraging and supporting the younger ones—fills the community with hope and pride. This journey will culminate on October 4, 2025, when the children receive their official certification.
The vision is clear: each generation will continue growing as Guardians of Creation, sowing love, care, and protection for our Common Home. Through their faith in action, these young stewards inspire a legacy of hope and responsibility that will flourish in every heart, generation after generation.
