Starting 20 October 2025, the Council of Catholic Bishops from Latin America and the Caribbean, widely known by its acronym, CELAM, will launch a global digital training platform focused on the study and implementation of the Final Document of the Synod on Synodality.

The initiative for this unprecedented international programme of formation is the Pan-American Synodal Ecosystem, dubbed “Together”, responding to the Synod on Synodality call by offering a free, intercontinental Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) exploring the key themes arising in the Synod on Synodality Final Document.

In a message made available to Vatican News, CELAM stated that the formation programme will feature international experts—including theologians, pastoral agents, and canon lawyers—most of whom have participated in the Synod on Synodality and the Synod of the Church in Italy.
“The Synod on Synodality has entered its third phase — reception — calling on the universal Church to translate discernment into concrete actions that transform relationships, structures, and pastoral priorities, in light of the Final Document of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (2021–2024),” the CELAM statement reads.
More than 10,000 invited to register
According to CELAM, this formation programme and global initiative are “a collaboration between the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), through its theological centre CEBITEPAL, the Latin American Confederation of Religious (CLAR), the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University (JST–SCU), the Latin American Observatory of Synodality, and the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations (UMOFC).”
CELAM expects the participation of “more than 10,000 people worldwide.” The organisers encourage participants in Africa and Asia to register. Participants will include “Bishops, clergy, religious men and women, pastoral workers, lay movements, parishes, and ecclesial communities — who will gain a deeper understanding of the Final Document in order to finally put it into practice.”
